Shop St. Peter Martinez
Also called Peter of Mozonzo, archbishop and leader of the Spanish Reconquista. Born in Galicia, Spain, he entered the Benedictines about 950 and served in the Abbey of St. Mary at Monzonzo. Appointed abbot of St. Martin of Antealares at Compostela, he subsequently was named archbishop of that see about 986. Peter emerged as one of the most prominent advocates of the Reconquista and is traditionally credited with being one of the composers of the Salve Regina.
